A Glan-Laser prism is a Glan-type polarizer specifically designed for high-performance applications. Escape windows are drilled on the sides of the housing, and after the light is reflected at a certain angle, it exits through one of the escape windows.
Glan-Laser prism polarizers are made of two identical prisms of birefringent material. As an improved version of the Glan-Taylor type, they are designed to reduce reflection losses at the prism interfaces. Polarizers equipped with two escape windows allow the blocked light beam to escape from the polarizer, making them more suitable for high-energy lasers. Compared with the incident and exit surfaces, the surface quality of the escape windows is relatively inferior.
