Yttrium vanadate (YVO₄) is a positive uniaxial crystal grown by the Czochralski method. It possesses good mechanical and physical properties. With a wide transmission range and high birefringence, it is an ideal material for optical polarization components. It has good transmittance in the infrared regions at 3500 nm and 4500 nm. It is an excellent synthetic alternative to Iceland spar (CaCO₃) and rutile (TiO₂) crystals, and is widely used in fiber optic isolators and circulators, beam displacers, Glan polarizers and other polarization optical components.
